Because Sport Walking is all about moving fast, challenging yourself and pursuing a goal, tracking your activities and gathering data is incredibly valuable. Whether you use an app on your phone or a sports watch, being able to log training or exercise sessions and to see your pace, effort level, distance and time duration helps you to see the progress you’re making and keeps you motivated.
It’s also really nice to have others see what you’re doing and receive encouragement from them. This is one reason why we have a club on Strava – so likeminded people from across the globe and we do mean from across the globe (we have club members from all over the world) can support each other, learn from the articles and videos we share and take on challenges that we set, to keep themselves motivated.
If you’re on Strava but haven’t seen our club, then why not join us and become a part of our Strava tribe! All your public activities automatically appear in the club’s activity feed and so you’ll likely get kudos and follows from others in the club. Of course, you’ll also be able to go through the club activity feed in your account and see if there’s anyone you know too or simply give kudos back to anyone you see who’s put in a good effort or has taken on a challenge.
Many people like to use Strava as just their personal data centre and don’t wish to share what they do with others and that’s fine too. Being a part of the club doesn’t mean you have to share your activities, it just means that you’re part of a community and you can see everything that’s on the club’s feed, without giving away any of your personal training data.
If you’re not on Strava but are either following our ‘Get Fit Walking’ advice or are training for a Sport Walking challenge, we’d really recommend the app as a part of your process. You can sign up for a free account and download the app to your mobile device or tablet and you can also access Strava on a laptop or desktop browser. With the smartphone app, available from mobile app stores, you can track your activities using your phone, without a watch and get all the pace, distance and time data you need to see the progress you’re making.
You can sign up for a Strava account here and if you’re already on Strava, you’ll find our Sport Walk Club here
