Our Sport Walk Personal Challenges give you a framework to create your own personal challenge walk, so take one on and really discover yourself!
Personal challenges are a key part of a Sport Walker’s armoury and are hugely valuable, given that they place YOU in complete control of the challenge itself – you define the challenge you want to take on, which route you take and the logistical make up of the test.
Our Personal Challenges
If you want a ready made template to project your own goals onto, our Personal Challenge templates are ideal. They provide the basic structure for you to adapt and make your own. There’s our Sport Walk 12 or 6 challenges, where you walk as far as you can on your chosen trails for 6 or 12 hours. Both give you a fulfilling day’s walking and are a great way to test yourself in a live challenge situation.
Then, there’s our Five A Day February Personal Challenge, where you walk 5km every day throughout February. This challenge is brilliant for embedding a process of walking into your daily life and it’s also an excellent fundraiser.
Lastly (at the moment), there’s our Midwinter Marathon, where the aim is to walk a marathon on the shortest day of the year and to finish before it gets dark. Once again, you pick the route, set your time goals and all the other logistical elements you need to shape the challenge, we just offer up the guiding structure to help you.
What Personal Challenges give you
Sport Walk Personal Challenges are not ‘virtual challenges’, they’re the real thing! You still walk whichever distance or timespan the challenge sets and you still need to perform as best you can because you’re the one who’s created the challenge, all we’ve done is sown the seed with our templates!
There may not be any marshals, feed stations or, come to that, finishers’ medals with Personal Challenges but that doesn’t mean that the challenge itself is any easier.
In some respect personal challenges can be more fulfilling than organised events because you’ve created the route and set the goal you want to achieve. All we set is the overall parameter by which you take on the challenge – so walk as far as you can for 12 hours etc. Everything else is yours and yours alone and that’s why Personal Challenges are so good!
We’ll be bringing on stream other Sport Walk Personal Challenges as time goes on, including a Half Marathon test, our ‘Dusk 2 Dawn’ night walking challenge and our ‘On Sight’ challenge, which involves navigation but for now, our Personal Challenge templates below will get you started.
