Our Get Fit Walking Walkshop is designed to give you a head start in using walking as your main fitness activity. We show you how you can make your walking more effective, to get better results more quickly, by changing a few small things about how you walk & we coach you in making these changes. We explain how to build a routine that will both be effective & fulfilling & outline the potential for you & where Sport Walking can take you.

What we bring to the party

Walking has long been recognised as a highly effective way to get or stay fit but walking is just a process & like any process, it can become difficult to stay motivated after you’ve been doing it for a while. This is where Sport Walking comes to the rescue because it layers challenge & personal fulfilment onto the simple process of walking. In this Walkshop, we bring all our expertise in Sport Walking to the fitness space, with expert guidance on how to adapt the way you walk to release the potential of walking for fitness. We bring a wealth of experience & knowledge that can help you believe in the process and believe that walking really can be all you need to get fit & we bring inspiration because seeing what’s possible for yourself is the best way to stay engaged and enthused. All our Walkshops are hosted by experienced Sport Walkers, who have been trained in our ‘Three Step Technique Adaptation’ method, to make the simple act of walking a powerful fitness tool. Your Walkshop host will explain how you can achieve the fitness you seek and demonstrate all the key elements before coaching you in the changes to make, so you’ll leave armed with tangible knowledge of what to do & how to do it.

What you’ll get out of it

With a structured programme that includes coaching support, you’ll come away from this Walkshop with everything you need to Get Fit by Walking. You’ll be walking differently and much more effectively, you’ll understand how much potential there is in just walking to build fitness & self esteem. You’ll be inspired to build variety into your day to day walks & have an armoury of ideas for adding challenge into the mix, so you can stay motivated. Most of all though, you’ll have seen for yourself what’s possible & have learnt how you too can adapt & become a confident & capable Sport Walker, even if you only focus on the fitness benefits.

Walkshop Outline

Our Get Fit Walking Walkshop lasts for around two hours and features a walk of up to 5km, depending on how the walk progresses. It’s interspersed with focused teaching about effective technique, building your own routine, what to wear & use, how strength exercises help you progress & much more. You’ll be coached by a Sport Walk coach throughout the Walkshop & the easy schedule means that there’s plenty of opportunity to ask questions & re-run demonstrations as you go, so that you’re able to really take it all in. Everyone also gets a fact sheet to take away & any technique video filmed, to help you remember what you learnt & how to implement adaptations when you get home. There’s also Get Fit Walking on our YouTube channel, to support your progress & growth.
